Privacy policy

Last updated: August 9, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Hopian (“Hopian,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit hopian.com, purchase our products, create an account, contact us, or otherwise use our services (collectively, the “Services”).

By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Personal Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you interact with us.

Information you provide

We may collect:

  • Contact information, such as name, email address, telephone number, billing address, and shipping address;
  • Order and transaction information, such as products purchased, order value, payment confirmation, delivery details, returns, exchanges, and warranty requests;
  • Account information, such as login details, account preferences, and saved information;
  • Customer-support information, including messages, attachments, reviews, survey responses, and other content you submit;
  • Marketing preferences, such as newsletter subscriptions and communication choices; and
  • Eligibility or compliance information reasonably needed to prevent unlawful sales or shipments.

Payment card and banking information is generally collected and processed directly by Shopify and our payment providers rather than stored by Hopian in full.

Information collected automatically

When you use the Services, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

  • device, browser, operating-system, and language information;
  • IP address and approximate location derived from it;
  • pages viewed, links clicked, searches, cart activity, referring URLs, and dates and times of activity;
  • identifiers stored through cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, and similar technologies; and
  • information used to diagnose errors, secure the website, and prevent fraud.

Information from other sources

We may receive information from:

  • Shopify and payment providers;
  • shipping, logistics, fulfillment, and returns partners;
  • fraud-prevention and identity-verification services;
  • analytics, advertising, and marketing partners;
  • social media or third-party login services when you choose to interact through them; and
  • public or commercially available sources as permitted by law.

2. How We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information to:

  • process payments, accept and fulfill orders, arrange delivery, and provide returns or warranty service;
  • create and manage customer accounts;
  • respond to questions and provide customer support;
  • send transactional messages about orders, accounts, returns, or policy changes;
  • send promotional communications when permitted and manage communication preferences;
  • personalize and improve products, content, advertising, and the customer experience;
  • analyze website performance and understand how the Services are used;
  • detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and unlawful product sales or shipments;
  • comply with tax, accounting, legal, regulatory, carrier, and product-restriction obligations;
  • enforce our Terms of Service and protect our customers, business, and legal rights; and
  • carry out a corporate transaction such as a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.

Where required by law, we rely on an appropriate legal basis, such as performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, legitimate interests, or consent.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the storefront, remember preferences, maintain carts and accounts, prevent fraud, measure performance, and—depending on your settings—support analytics and personalized advertising.

Shopify provides information about cookies used on Shopify storefronts at Shopify’s Cookie Policy. You can manage cookies through your browser and, where available, our cookie banner or privacy-preference tools. Blocking some cookies may prevent parts of the Services from working correctly.

4. How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose personal information to:

  • Shopify, which hosts and operates our ecommerce platform;
  • payment providers to authorize and process transactions;
  • fulfillment, warehouse, carrier, customs, and returns partners to deliver and service orders;
  • technology and security providers that support hosting, cloud storage, fraud prevention, customer service, email, and website operation;
  • analytics and advertising partners where enabled and permitted by law;
  • professional advisers and authorities, including lawyers, accountants, insurers, regulators, law enforcement, and courts when reasonably necessary or legally required;
  • corporate transaction participants in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, bankruptcy, or sale; and
  • other parties when you direct us or give consent.

Service providers may process information only for the services they provide to us, subject to their agreements and applicable law. Third-party platforms may process information under their own privacy notices.

5. Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising

We do not exchange personal information for money as a routine business practice. However, depending on the cookies, pixels, advertising services, and legal definitions applicable where you live, disclosing identifiers or internet activity to advertising partners may be considered a “sale,” “sharing,” or processing for targeted advertising.

Where applicable, you may opt out through Your Privacy Choices. Where our Site is configured to recognize a legally valid preference signal such as Global Privacy Control, we will process that signal as required by applicable law. The effect of a request may be limited to the browser or device used unless we can associate it with your account.

6. Marketing Communications

You may unsubscribe from promotional emails by using the unsubscribe link in the message. You may still receive non-promotional communications, such as order confirmations, shipping notices, account messages, safety notices, and responses to support requests.

If SMS marketing is added, this policy and the relevant consent language must be updated before launch.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the Services, maintaining business and tax records, processing returns and warranties, preventing fraud, resolving disputes, and complying with legal obligations.

Retention periods vary according to the type of information, the relationship with you, legal requirements, and operational needs. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably needed, unless law permits or requires continued retention.

8. Data Security

We and our service providers use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No transmission or storage method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Do not send sensitive information through insecure channels.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for notifying us if you suspect unauthorized access.

9. International Processing

Hopian, Shopify, and our service providers may process personal information in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws.

Where required, we use recognized transfer mechanisms or other safeguards for cross-border transfers, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • request access to or a copy of personal information;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • request deletion of information;
  • request restriction of or object to certain processing;
  • request data portability;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising where applicable;
  • appeal a decision on a privacy request; and
  • lodge a complaint with an appropriate privacy or data-protection authority.

These rights are not absolute and may be subject to legal exceptions. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law, subject to verification of authority.

To exercise a privacy right, email support@hopian.com or use the privacy controls available on the Site. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a legally protected privacy right.

11. EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

If applicable, our legal bases may include:

  • performance of a contract, such as processing and delivering an order;
  • compliance with legal obligations;
  • legitimate interests, such as securing and improving the Services, preventing fraud, and providing customer support; and
  • consent, such as for certain marketing or non-essential cookies.

You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing completed before withdrawal. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority.

For purposes of applicable data-protection law, Hopian is the controller of personal information described in this Privacy Policy unless stated otherwise.

12. United States State Privacy Notices

Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional rights described in Section 10. In the preceding 12 months, the categories of personal information we may have collected include identifiers, customer-record information, commercial information, internet or network activity, approximate geolocation, and inferences used to improve or personalize the Services.

These categories may be disclosed to the service-provider and partner categories described in Section 4. Whether any disclosure constitutes a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising depends on applicable law and the technologies enabled on the Site.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.

13. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the age at which parental consent is required by applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

Products offered through the Services may be purchased only by customers who satisfy the eligibility requirements in our Terms of Service.

14. User-Generated Content and Third-Party Links

Reviews, comments, photographs, or other content submitted to public parts of the Services may be visible to others. Do not publish personal information that you do not want made public.

The Site may link to third-party websites or platforms. We do not control their privacy or security practices. Review their notices before providing information.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, Services, or legal obligations. We will post the updated policy, revise the “Last updated” date, and provide additional notice where required.
